Staying at Home - Week 1

Gaz and I have been heeding government advice and minimised going out unless to work and for groceries. Even then, it has been difficult to adhere to social distancing especially while in the shops. For some reason, people still do not get it! Sure, old habits die hard but this virus is so infectious it is foolish not to do everything we can to prevent its spread, like keeping a safe distance from each other. Some people would walk up close to me while there are plenty of space on their side in the aisle.

The panic buying has subsided somewhat but I have still been unable to find any Quilton toilet paper. Some aisles like the meat department are looking sad and empty, although the fresh fruit and vegetable sections look bountiful. Perhaps this is the time to eat a vegan diet. Price wise, they may be coming up about the same soon. For instance, due to the shutdown in China, a bag of garlic imported from China which would normally cost $3 is now $8. Prices have also been impacted by the drought and bushfires.

This week has seen us eating more home cooked meals as I am able to cook earlier these days. I've tried a couple of new and easy recipes this week like Claypot Chicken Rice (using rice cooker) and Braised Tofu with Prawns which turned out quite delicious. Perhaps that's why Gaz has been eating more?
