Beinart Gallery, Brunswick- Miniature Art

Aren't these miniature art terrific? We visited Beinart Gallery in Prahran some weeks ago for the opening of the miniature art show. Among the artists who are exhibiting their art are Joshua Smith (below two are his creation), and Ken Hamilton.

If you are hesitant about leaving your home at the moment due to the coronavirus, there are some good quality pictures (you can zoom in to admire the intricacy of the piece too!) and prices on their website: https://beinart.org/collections/miniature-art

The main piece is undoubtedly Joshua Smith's piece of a derelict three storey building. The bricks are made one by one and glued together. The whole piece took him 10 weeks to finish and is selling for $31,000 incl GST.

He also made this piece, which is an actual shop on Sydney Road in Brunswick. I have seen the image on Google Maps' Street View and it looks pretty close to the real shop!

I also like Salavat Fidai's microscopic pieces. There is one of a man playing on a grand piano, all carved from the tip of a pencil! You would need a magnifying glass to admire the details, it was that tiny.

The exhibition will be on until the 29th March.
