Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Yesterday, my friend and I went to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra play Rachmaninoff, Berlioz and Tchaikovsky.  There were so many people!

Below is a picture of the crowd at 7:30pm when the concert was about to start. The Bowl was at full capacity and there was no more room even on the grass.

This was on a 35 degree day, mind you. A few people succumbed to the heat during the performance and had to be escorted away by the paramedics.

I was lucky to be invited by my friend who had scored box seats for us. We did not have to queue up at the entrance,  nor arrive earlier at the Bowl to stake out our seats. It was wonderful!

The performance was excellent.  The pieces were not too out there, these pieces being classical pieces after all. Melbourne is indeed the arts and culture hub of Australia, and we are so lucky to enjoy these world class performances free of charge.

For those who missed this, not to worry as there are two more performances coming up on the 11th and 15th of February!
