I called a customer in the course of my work today, wanting to request for some documents and was told that he will be absent from the office till at least Wednesday. Why? Because he was at home fighting fires. The wretched fires... they're back today in the front pages. This time, the fires are occuring closer to home. They're not just confined to the foresty areas like they were, but the latest fires are about 5 train stations from my home, and a mere 20 mins away. This is the suburbs, and the thought that bushfires can happen in 'safe' suburbs is scary.
