Modern Indian Restaurant, Keysborough

When Gaz told me that we will be going to a modern indian restaurant for dinner, I wondered of how modern it would be? I wanted an authentic indian food experience, I didn't want a cross bred confused version of the cuisine. So, I was quite glad when he told me that the name of the restaurant is Modern Indian Restaurant but the food is traditionally Indian.

The entree came on a platter consisting of samosa, tandoori chicken drumette, onion bhaji and pappadam. These were piping hot when it got onto our table for which we were glad because it was a cold night. The onion bhaji was light and very crispy.  I also liked the pappadam which looked like they were house made.
The curries came in small bowls, there were three altogether - butter chicken, mixed vegetable curry and pork vindaloo.  My favorite was the butter chicken but it was slightly sweeter than what I was uses to. The pork was spicy and the vegetable curry although adds variety to the two meat dishes was alright so I steered towards the chicken.
We had saffron rice and freshly made bread to mop up the delicious curries.  The bread was delicious, fresh from the griddle and crispy. Yummy!!

For dessert, there was dry cake with icing sugar. As we always say to ourselves, desserts are never a highlight in Asian cuisine. This dessert was not authentic or something we would ever order off a menu. It was more like something that just happened to be on the table, in a Woolies cake box maybe.

Overall I think the two items that I enjoyed the most are the pappadams, and the bread!
