Plenty to be Glad for

I'm truly glad for the invention of the Internet. After I've been stuck in a house in an unfamiliar territory with limited entertainment for two weeks, I now truly understand the value of the Internet. The provider of information, entertainment, communication, the platform to the world! I'm glad I am FINALLY connected to the Internet.

So, what have I been doing since the last blog post? Lots of cleaning, furniture shopping, cooking, and did I mention cleaning? Yes, I did... but I have to again because I've cleaned more in these 3 weeks than the whole of last year. It was difficult enough to clean up after myself in my rented place where I was only really responsible for the cleanliness of one single room; my own, and the toilet and bathroom. I hardly cooked, and did not use the other rooms as much so I needn't bother about cleaning them. Now, I have 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and the living room to clean! Something to do with first home pride which will no doubt wear off... if it doesn't kill me first.

Feature Wall - don't look too closely!

We painted the whole house ourselves... this involved countering my fear of being in the top rung of the ladder painting at heights I've never imagined myself to be and painting till 11pm at night then driving home to go to work the next day. Oh boy... am I glad it's all over. I even painted a feature wall in the house, I did it all by myself, and unfortunately not very good work too. Friends are only welcome to our house at nights now because the imperfections are less noticeable in dim lighting. We try not to switch on any lights and tell them we're doing our part in reducing our carbon footprint (which is a topic all in the rage in Aust at the mo).

But for the ability to do all this... the house painting, furniture moving, cleaning, arranging for connection of utilities... is what I'm truly glad for..
