Bangkok

What do you do when someone belittles you and dismisses you? I wish I can diss them back but there is karma at work. One day, it will bite them back where it hurts. So in the meantime, I can only meditate and think about the good things in my life.

Like the time we went to Bangkok over Christmas last year. We spent a week at home and 3 days in Bangkok. It was the cool period so it was not unbearably hot though it was still hot and humid. Luckily we spent a lot of time indoors, except for the first day when we went to the Grand Palace, and Sleeping Buddha temple. Gaz promptly fell sick so that is why we ended up spending more time in the hotel resting.
We went to Lumphini Park and saw many monitor lizards. We even saw one eating a whole carp like it was a walk in the park!

Do not dwell in the past, do not speculate on the future. Be in the moment. This is the gist of a quote from Gautama Buddha.

We had a good time in Bangkok though my family again wondered why we chose an urban place for a holiday. I think in their minds, Bangkok is too busy, so many traffic jams and hustle and bustle. Since we are from the city, we should go holidaying in a more exciting but less busy place. My brother went to Hong Kong for his holiday the same day we flew to Bangkok but I did not question his choice.

I did some bra shopping in Bangkok, which I had looked forward to for the whole year since I booked the flights. Wacoal is a famous bra brand, designed and made in Thailand or Japan. I managed to find some designs I love, and coincidentally because they were on special, it was a BOGOF! I paid $30 for two, what a bargain. It seems like my choice of designs are old fashioned and were in the bargain bin to make way for newer, less exciting designs. Like those polyester, plain ones I dislike. Times are a changing..

We also stumbled on Terminal 21 food court in Asok where the cheapest oyster omelette store resides. It was only about 3 dollars for a plateful of crispy oyster omelette, what a great find.

We flew Thai Air home but I could not enjoy the hospitality because of a tummy ache that threatened to spill over the seats. I ended up not moving and not eating for over 10 hours.. it was not a good feeling at all.

Reminiscing again, it was a great holiday because the different things we saw, the Spanish guy we met at a restaurant (I had just started Spanish lessons on Duolingo but forgot everything), every great bargain I found, experiencing water taxi riding and the joy of exploring a new place. We are so lucky to being able to walk, laugh, smile and eat. Thank you God for giving us resources to travel.
